Density

The density,  (also called mass density) is the mass of an object or substance divided by its volume. Density is represented by the Greek letter rho (𝜌).

𝜌 = Volume/Mass

In hydropower, the density of water is generally taken as 1000 kg in each cubic metre:

𝜌 = 1000 kg/m³

However, water density varies somewhat with temperature and pressure and this is important for accurate calculations.
