Unit Flow

Unit flow, also called turbine flow, is the flow through each turbine in a hydro powerhouse.

A turbine is designed for the Rated Flow (see Related Glossary entries), but during operation the turbine flow is regulated by a governor (see Related Glossary entries) so that the power delivered by the turbine matches the electricity demand while keeping the turbine spinning at synchronous speed.
